What a LinkedIn ghostwriter costs, and when to hire one

You know you should be publishing. You have known for about 2 years. A ghostwriter is the obvious answer, and the obvious answer costs more than most people expect.

Here are the published rates, what your own time commitment actually looks like, and the cases where hiring one is the right call. We sell software that competes with this, so the second half of that sentence matters as much as the first.

What does a LinkedIn ghostwriter cost?

Two bands, and they are a long way apart. A freelance writer working directly with you, and an agency with a strategist, an editor and an account manager between you and the words.

Freelance, by cadence

CadenceMonthly
1 post a week$500 to $700
2 posts a week$900 to $1,300
3 posts a week$1,500 to $2,000
Daily$2,500 to $3,500

Agencies, by tier

TierMonthlyOutput
Entry$2,000 to $4,0004 to 8 posts a month
Growth$4,000 to $7,0008 to 12 posts a month
Full service$8,000 to $15,000+12 to 20 posts a month

Ranges published by independent 2026 pricing guides, in US dollars, sourced September 2026. Per-post work runs from about $50 at the entry level to $800 for senior writers. A mid-tier retainer annualises to roughly $24,000 to $60,000, which the same guides describe as comparable to a part-time hire. That comparison is the useful one.

The cost nobody puts on the pricing page

Hiring a ghostwriter does not remove the work. It moves it. The usual shape is an onboarding session to establish positioning and stories, then recurring interviews or voice notes to supply raw material, then review on every draft.

That third part is the one people underestimate. You are still reading everything, and you are reading it written by someone who was not in the room when the thing happened.

A founder quoted in one of those 2026 pricing guides put the test better than we could:

“How much information do you need from me to create a post? If the answer is none, you're buying generic content.”

That is the real trade. A ghostwriter who needs nothing from you produces nothing worth reading. A ghostwriter who needs a lot from you is expensive twice over.

When a ghostwriter is the right call

Three cases, and in all three we would tell you to hire one.

You want the engagement run too. At the higher tiers you are buying 3 to 5 hours a week of someone commenting, building relationships and working rooms on your behalf. That is a person's job and it is not ours. Inklined hands you the conversations worth joining with a reply drafted. You still press post.

You want to publish on things you have not done. A researcher can go and learn a subject you have never worked on and write it up convincingly. Inklined works from your material: your calls, your writing, the things you have actually formed a view about. If the well is empty, it tells you so rather than filling it in for you.

You want to hand it over completely. Some people want this off their plate and are happy to pay for that. Inklined still needs you: 15 minutes at the start, then reviewing and correcting. If showing up at all is the problem, a person you are paying is a better commitment device than any piece of software.

And the case against: if what you actually want is for the thinking you already do, out loud, on calls, every week, to turn into something published in your voice, then you are about to pay 10 to 100 times over for a transcription and editing service with a relationship attached.

What we do instead

A ghostwriter interviews you to get the raw material. Inklined reads the calls you were already having.

Connect Granola, Fathom, Fireflies or Attio, and the framework you talked a client through on Tuesday is a draft on Wednesday. Your fingerprint holds your positions, your frameworks and the judgement behind them in seven Markdown files you can open and edit, so when a draft sounds wrong you fix the file rather than re-briefing a person.

It also argues with you, which is the part people do not expect from software. Compose works like an interview: one pointed question at a time, pushing back on a claim or putting evidence in front of you, rather than accepting the first version of a thought. A gauge tells you whether the material behind an idea is thin, building or ready, and what is missing, so a half-formed post gets caught before you write it rather than after you publish it.

Then it shows you who turned up. Everyone who engages with your posts is scored against your own description of a buyer, so you find out whether the writing is reaching anyone who could hire you.

It starts with a 15-minute strategy session, and you can do that and build your fingerprint before paying anything.
