The people reading you, on the record

Somebody has engaged with four of your posts over two months. They are a real signal and they exist nowhere except a notifications tab that forgets them.

Sending them to HubSpot puts that on the record: who they are, how many times, which post, and whether they look like somebody who could hire you. It is the difference between a feeling about your audience and a list you can work.

Connecting it

  1. 1In Inklined, open Settings and connect HubSpot. You approve it in HubSpot and come back.
  2. 2On the first push, Inklined creates the properties it needs on your contact records rather than overwriting anything you already use. They are all prefixed so they group together and are easy to spot.
  3. 3Nothing is sent automatically. You choose who goes, one at a time or in bulk.

What Inklined takes

  • →The LinkedIn profile, how Inklined found them, when they were first and last seen, and how many times they have engaged.
  • →The post they engaged with, what it was about, and whose post it was.
  • →The fit score, which is how they read against your own description of a buyer rather than against a generic template.
  • →A last-updated stamp, so you can tell at a glance what came from Inklined and when.

What happens to it

The first thing that happens to a transcript is that the names come out of it. People become role descriptors, so a participant is stored as “Host [GTM Consultant]” rather than by name. Companies become sector descriptors, so a client called Acme Corp is stored as “a B2B SaaS startup”. Email addresses, phone numbers, office addresses and profile links are removed. This runs once, on the way in, before anything else touches the text.

What is left is split into passages and indexed, so that when Inklined asks you something tomorrow it can show you the 40 seconds of the call the question came from rather than asserting that you said it.

Then a second rule applies, and it is the one that matters most if your calls are client work. Only speech attributed to you can become something you publish. On a typical consulting corpus most of the words belong to the other person, and offering those back to you as “something you said” is how somebody ends up publishing a client’s thinking under their own name. Anything that still names an organisation after all that asks you to confirm before it will draft from it.

One limitation worth stating rather than hiding: a client name that opens a sentence is not always caught, because “Sona ran this play” is shaped exactly like “Pricing pages need an owner”. The title check is the reliable one, and the confirmation step exists because no automatic check is enough on its own.

More on this: how Inklined works.

When it does not work

A connection that authenticates and then returns nothing looks exactly like a healthy one, which is why HubSpot going quiet is hard to diagnose from the outside.

A contact came through with fields missing
Deliberate, and it is the most important rule here. Anything Inklined does not know is left out rather than written as blank, because an empty value is still a value and would erase what your CRM already held.
No job title or company came across
Also deliberate. Those can only be guessed by splitting a LinkedIn headline, which produces nonsense often enough that it once corrupted several hundred records. A wrong value on a contact outlives everybody, so Inklined declines to guess.
"Whose post it was" is not you
Correct, and worth understanding. Across every account, the large majority of engagement happens on other people’s posts rather than your own. That field exists so somebody else’s post can never be recorded as yours, which would be a false statement sitting on a contact record for years.
The connection is refused when you try to push
A HubSpot connection can be live but missing the permission this needs. Inklined checks with a real call rather than trusting the stored credential, so it fails at the point of connecting rather than silently later.
