Every draft starts from it, so a line you fix here shows up in everything you write next.

Where do I see what Inklined knows about how I write?

Open Fingerprint from the sidebar. Everything Inklined knows about how you write and think is there, in 7 plain Markdown files, each with its own score.

Find your fingerprint and what it knows about you

  1. Everything Inklined knows about how you write and think lives in your fingerprint. Open it from the sidebar.
  2. One score for the whole fingerprint. It grades how specific and evidenced it is, not how long.
  3. 7 plain Markdown files. Each has its own score, so you can see which part is thin.
  4. What a strong version of this file covers. A tick means it is already there. Click a missing one to add it.
  5. Jump straight to any section of the file from here.

How do I fix something Inklined got wrong about how I write?

Open the file, find the line, rewrite it in your own words and save. Every draft is written from your fingerprint, so the correction carries into everything you write next.

Correct something your fingerprint got wrong

  1. Open the file that has it wrong. voice.md is how you sound.
  2. Jump to the section. Say it has your humour wrong.
  3. This is what it believes about you. Click into the text and rewrite the line in your own words.
  4. Save. Every draft is written from your fingerprint, so the fix carries into everything you write next.

What is in each of the 7 fingerprint files?

voice.md is how you sound, beliefs.md what you stand for, frameworks.md how you explain your work, taste.md what you rate, topics.md what you want to be known for, bio.md your story and icp.md who you write for.

What each fingerprint file is for

  1. voice.md: how you sound. Rhythm, formality, the phrases you use and the ones you never would.
  2. beliefs.md: what you stand for. The positions you would defend in a room.
  3. frameworks.md: the models and methods you explain your work with.
  4. taste.md: what you rate and what you cannot stand, in writing and in your field.
  5. topics.md: the few themes you want to be known for.
  6. bio.md: your story and your credentials, so nothing gets invented.
  7. icp.md: who you are writing for. Everything you write is aimed at these people.
  8. All 7 are plain text you own. Read them, edit them, or take them with you.

How do I approve or reject changes to my fingerprint?

Open Review on the Fingerprint page. Every suggested change is listed with the evidence behind it, and nothing is added until you accept it.

Review what Inklined wants to add to your fingerprint

  1. Inklined notices patterns in what you write and edit. Nothing is added until you say so. Open Review.
  2. Suggestions are grouped by the file they would change, with the evidence behind each one.
  3. Accept the ones that are right.
  4. Dismiss the ones that are not. Either way, you decide.

Can I undo a change to my fingerprint?

Yes. Open History on any fingerprint file and restore any earlier version in one click.

How do I improve a weak part of my fingerprint?

Start an interview with Refine with interview, say which part you want to improve, and answer by typing, speaking, or handing it a document, link or pasted text.

Strengthen your fingerprint with a short interview

  1. The quickest way to lift a weak file is to talk about it. Start an interview.
  2. Say what you want to improve: a belief, a framework, your bio, who you write for.
  3. Type your answer, or speak it.
  4. Or hand it something you have already written: a document, a link or pasted text.
  5. Stop whenever you like and finish later.

Can I bring what ChatGPT or Claude knows about me into Inklined?

Yes. Copy Inklined's prompt into ChatGPT, Claude or Gemini, paste what it writes back into Inklined, and import it into your fingerprint.

Import what ChatGPT, Claude or Gemini already knows about you

  1. If you already use an assistant, it knows a lot about you. Open the menu.
  2. Choose Import from your assistant.
  3. Pick the one you use.
  4. Copy the prompt and paste it into that assistant. It writes up everything it knows about you.
  5. Paste what it gives you back here, or upload it as a file.
  6. Import it into your fingerprint.

Yes. Download my fingerprint gives you all 7 files as plain text, so you can keep them and read them anywhere.

What is the swipe file and how do I use it?

Your swipe file is every post and article you have saved while reading, with the reaction you jotted down. Open it from Fingerprint, add to it by pasting a link or from the browser extension, and filter to the ones you reacted to.
